SACRED LANDSCAPES VI
The Sacred Landscapes series draws upon the imagination, inhabiting a realm of whimsy while remaining grounded in the artist’s lived experience. These paintings serve as creative playgrounds in which complex compositions emerge from swirling layers of paint, meticulously constructed fields of vibrant color, and playful, organic forms. As Nguyen explains, these works “reflect my inner self [and] many factors of myself which perhaps I can understand, or I can’t.” Extending beyond self-reflection, the artist’s strange and wondrous compositions embrace both the known and the unknowable, inviting viewers into a space where mystery, imagination, and experience converge.
The Series showcases Nguyen’s highly textured painting technique, which imbues both his landscapes and abstractions with a fantastical, otherworldly quality.
