PLACES
While traveling, I captured my favorite moments/places/scenes through a point-and-shoot camera (iPhone in later years). From the photo images, I created the pictures via pen and watercolor on wood panels. I use two types of varnishes: aging and crackling for a classic look. In the last stage, to protect the artwork, I seal the artwork surface with many layers of clear medium painting coats and varnishes.
Capturing a quick image with a small camera in a few seconds and spending many hours drawing and painting a picture has helped me find the relationship between the places and myself. It's amazing what art can do!
All mixed media on panel 8" x 10" (pencil, pen, color pencil, watercolor, UV coating, aging, crackles varnishes, oil paint, oil medium layers, varnish on wood panel).
(2017 - 2019)
There are many places I haven't created yet, I will start the 2nd set of the series in 2025.
